Yew trees. Probably the longest lived tree in Northern Europe. 
Steeped in ritual and symbolism. Did you know that when a branch touches the ground 
it can sprout new roots and grow in to a new tree? Nope, me neither. 

And those roots? Straight out of a twisted dream. Magnificent backdrop 
for a still life series too.

This particular one is in the grounds of Waverley Abbey and at a guess is approximately 900 years old, give or take a decade.
