Dinorwic Quarry.

A landscape shaped by extraction and abandonment.

Nestled in the heart of Snowdonia, Dinorwic Quarry was once one of the largest slate workings in the world. For over two centuries, men carved vast volumes of slate from the mountainside, reshaping both the land and the communities who lived by its industry. Today, the quarry lies silent, its barrack rows roofless, its tips strewn with broken slate, and its machines long stilled.

The landscape has adapted. Trees grow through stone, moss spreads across old walls, and weather softens the edges of what was once a place of hard labour. These images reflect the quiet transformation of a space shaped by heavy industry into one being reclaimed by nature.
